ISSUE III: EDEN MASLIAH

Four years ago, Eden Masliah left Montreal for New York at 17, following what she describes simply as a gut feeling that she needed to be there. She enrolled at LIM College to study fashion business while continuing to build her presence as a content creator. Today, at 21, New York is where she has built her career, purchased her first home, and created a life increasingly defined by the things she loves: fashion, beauty, travel, interiors and personal style.

Masliah had been creating long before New York. She began making videos around the age of 11, first through YouTube and later across social media, where fashion naturally became central to what she shared. By her teens, an audience was growing around her outfits, beauty, travels and everyday life. What began as an early creative outlet steadily developed into a full-time career.

Fashion remains at the center of Masliah’s world. Her content is closely connected to the way she actually dresses and lives, with New York providing a natural backdrop for her evolving personal style. There is an ease to the way she brings fashion into everyday life, allowing clothes to feel personal rather than overly constructed and giving her audience access to the person wearing them.

After completing her associate degree at LIM College, Masliah chose to leave school and focus on content creation full time. By then, she had spent years developing her platform and building a career for herself. It was a decisive shift, and one that allowed her to put her full attention toward the work and creative life she wanted to pursue.

More recently, Masliah reached another milestone with the purchase of an apartment in downtown Manhattan. She is currently renovating and decorating the space, bringing her audience along as interiors and home design become a larger part of her content. What began primarily through fashion has widened naturally, with the apartment offering a new canvas for the same sense of taste that has long informed her wardrobe.

Fashion remains fundamental, but it now sits comfortably alongside interiors, travel, beauty and home, offering a fuller view of Masliah beyond personal style alone. The clothes she wears, the spaces she creates and the places she travels are becoming parts of the same creative world, one that feels increasingly personal to her.

It also brings her New York story full circle. Masliah arrived in the city at 17, went on to build her career there, and four years later is putting down roots in downtown Manhattan. From fashion student to full-time creator and now homeowner, each chapter has expanded the last, with Masliah continuing to define both her career and creative world on her own terms.

For FML’s Lifestyle Cover of Issue III: The Reinvention Issue, FML had the pleasure of sitting down with Eden Masliah to talk about leaving Montreal for New York, turning content into a career, her evolving relationship with fashion and personal style, creating her first Manhattan home, and the new chapter she is building around it.

FML: You moved from Montreal to New York at just 17, following a gut instinct that you needed to be there. What do you remember most about that decision, and what did New York represent to you at the time?

EM: You know its funny because I don’t think I even remember when the thought entered my mind, all I remember is it having been a statement in my mind, “oh well after highschool I’ll move to New York and see what happens there”. I didn’t really think about it much, I’ve always prided myself on trusting my instincts, so when I felt that New York was a place I was called to, it was decided! I think the city represented future growth, freedom and inspiration to me, a place where your dreams were never seen as too big or unobtainable. I remember it all feeling so incredibly right when I had my first night in my studio apartment, I didn’t feel nervous or scared, I actually never felt more at peace. Having left a slightly traumatic home, I felt all my anxiety drift away when I woke up all alone in my own sanctuary.

FML: Four years later, how do you feel New York has shaped your personal style and the person you are today?

EM: In a city known to be chaotic and busy, New York has actually made me a much calmer, or less anxious person I should say. I feel like my energy actually has a place to go, all the time. These four years have been extremely transformative, a few months before I moved, my father passed away and there was endless chaos in my family life, I felt like I wasn’t being seen and I didn’t have many outlets. When I moved and took the time to process so many years id blocked out, I felt myself flourish. I met amazing people that shaped me in beautiful ways, I was able to develop the skills I cared about relating to business, fashion and social media, and I truly felt so much weight drift off my shoulders. I felt light and childlike again. This translated in my style as well, I began to have more fun, to be more creative, you could even see my color palette change to be more full of life. Needless to say, New York is an easy place to be inspired by, every day I saw people and places that gave me streams of ideas!

FML: You started building your career as a content creator while studying fashion business at LIM College. When did you first realize content could become more than a passion and actually be your career?

EM: I was actually creating content in highschool back in montreal as well, I’ve always had a lot of fun filming videos and dressing up. When I moved to New York I think the possibility of it truly becoming a full time job became a lot more realistic to me. There are so many content creators here that are wildly successful and build massive careers from social media, so I thought “well I should really try to take this seriously and see what happens.” Ive always loved business as well as fashion and this seemed like the perfect mix, id build an audience doing what I loved and further down the line build a business around a product.

FML: At only 21, you’ve already been able to turn your love of fashion into a full-time career. What has been the most rewarding part of that journey so far?

EM: The thing I’m most grateful for in this career is my freedom, it is truly a blessing to be in control of my time, to be able to travel and make my own schedules, to spend time with my loved ones and take time for myself as well. It’s extremely rewarding to do what I love and do it on my time.

FML: Your new apartment in downtown Manhattan has become an exciting part of your content. How has creating a space of your own inspired you creatively?

EM: Interior design has always peaked my interest, to be able to transform a space with color, décor and create a whole new universe. I feel that my new apartment represents so many pieces of me and being able to decorate and renovate it to be truly me, has been such a fun and new creative outlet. When I thought of my bedroom for example, the first thought I had was that I wanted it to truly feel like its own little universe. I wanted it color drenched in lime wash, I then thought about my travels to Morocco, which is where my dad and his family are from! I remembered seeing walls that were washed with the most eye-catching colors, lamps that brightened spaces beautifully, tiles that reflected that light perfectly, and endless décor that to me felt like jewelry for the home. I decided to make my bedroom into a Moroccan design inspired palace. To be able to create a space freely is so inspiring in and of itself, it allowed me to take pieces of my fashion style and combine them with whole new ideas and inspirations. It’s also been about how I’ll be able to create in the space. Where ill film, how the colors look on camera etc. has also been part of the process which has been very interesting.

FML: Renovating and decorating your apartment has introduced interiors and home design into your content. What have you discovered about your taste through creating your own space?

EM: Honestly, just like my taste in fashion, I’ve discovered that my design taste is SOO versatile. There are 1 million styles that I love. I truly wish I had a house for every aesthetic that I wish to build a world around. It has been so challenging to pin down one aesthetic for the house, like I said I gave myself my bedroom to really have fun and make it a world of its own but for the rest of the house I tried to keep it pretty connected, which has been harder than expected. With clothes, you can change your style every day, but with furniture, it’s really a one and done thing (a very expensive one n done thing), which has been a lot of pressure. But on the bright side, it has really made me think more deeply about how I wanna feel in my space in order to make my decisions.

FML: Do you see a connection between the way you style an outfit and the way you style a home?

EM: I think the main connection I see between the way I style an outfit and the way I style my home would be that I like to add tons of jewelry. To me lighting and decorative details are the jewelry of the home, I have been having so much fun finding vintage hanging lamps, antique decorative pieces, and pieces that just make the home feel complete and elevated, just like jewelry does for my outfits.

FML: As your audience gets to see more of your everyday life, how do you want your content to evolve beyond fashion while still staying true to what people originally connected with?

EM: I think that more than anything I want my audience to really feel connected to the energy coming from me in my content. I hope they not only see the clothes and the places, but that they see the confidence and the positivity that leads my spirit. I hope to inspire girls to have that same approach to life. I hope to show them that following their gut and leading with love, will always be worth it.

FML: Travel has also become part of the world you share. How does experiencing a new city or culture influence your style and creativity?

EM: I really think that everything comes down to energy and what I mean by that is, I dress certain ways, depending on how I feel or want to feel on a certain day, I design a space for how I want to feel in that space, etc. I think every place I travel to has its own energy and that energy inspires my stylistic choices in really interesting ways and it’s fun to take those energetic inspirations back home and incorporate them into my everyday styling choices.

FML: You’ve spoken about wanting to create an entire world around your content. If someone enters the world of Eden Masliah, what do you hope they feel?

EM: As you enter the world of Eden Masliah, I hope you feel that childlike joy and inspiration, I hope you feel confidence to wear what you want and make choices others may doubt and I hope you feel you can truly lead with your open heart.

FML: Fashion is constantly changing, but personal style can be much more enduring. What do you think makes someone truly stylish?

EM: The first thing that comes to mind when this question is asked is always authenticity, I think authenticity is what makes someone truly stylish. That combined with the confidence that you can pull anything off.

FML: Looking ahead, what are you most excited to build, experience, or step into next?

EM: My next goal is building my own business; I’d really love to start my own high end jewelry line. It’s been an idea that has been in my mind for years now and I think I’m finally ready to make real steps to making it happen. Jewelry has always been something that really inspired me and made me feel like myself, and it’s something that I really wanna get right so it may take a while but keep an eye out!

For Masliah, the through line has always been personal. From the instinct that first brought her to New York to the career she has built and the home she is now transforming, she has followed her own sense of style, ambition and possibility. Fashion may have been the starting point, but interiors, travel and the details of her everyday life are giving that world a new dimension.

And she is already thinking about what comes next. With plans to eventually launch her own high-end jewelry line, Masliah is looking beyond content toward something she can build and call her own. At 21, Eden Masliah has created a life rooted in the freedom she values most, and as that world continues to grow, she remains guided by the same thing that brought her to New York in the first place: trusting herself enough to follow where it leads.
